Improvising on the piano -- you can do it!

Who else wants to learn the secrets of
piano improvising --
making up music as you play?

7 Months From Today...You Could Be Improvising On The Piano Freely -- Making Up Your Own Music On The Spot!

Dear Friend:

I'm about to tell you a true story. If you believe me, you will be well rewarded. In fact, it could change your piano-playing life. If you don't believe me, I will make it worth your while to change your mind.

Let me explain:

When I was in the 8th grade, there were lots of kids who could play piano better than I. For example, there was this guy named Scott who had the same piano teacher I did, and at the annual recital he played "Kitten On The Keys" -- a jazzy up tempo novelty song with lots of frills that really got the audience going. I played right after him, and my song was "Minuet in G" -- hardly an exciting song, and much easier than "Kitten On The Keys". It was embarrassing, because he was my age, and had only taken piano lessons a year longer than I had.

Now fast forward 3 years. We are in our 3rd year of high school at Placer High in Auburn, California. I had gotten interested in jazz a couple years earlier and had sent off for a "Chord Chart" in the mail. As I recall, it cost me two bucks. Working all by myself with that chord chart I had learned a dozen or so of the most-used chords. Then I went to a jazz concert at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento where I saw the great Erroll Garner play a solo concert. I had no idea that a piano could sound like that, and I perceived that what he was doing was breaking up chords in some complex ways I didn't understand at the time -- but wanted desperately to find out.

So I immediately bought some of his records and started playing along with them, running my hands up and down the keyboard as I heard him get higher and lower, pretending that I was the one making those incredible sounds. I did that by the hour -- not only at home, but also in the practice rooms in the music building at Placer High.

One day as I was doing this, Scott happened to walk by

the practice room I was in and noticed what I was doing.

"What in the world do you think you're doing, Shinn?

That sounds terrible!"

He was right, of course. It did sound terrible, but that wasn't the point. The point was -- I was gradually learning which chords Garner was using, and how he was breaking them up and moving so deftly between them.

Now fast forward another 2 years. We are in our first year of college at Sierra Junior College, and I am playing in the college dance combo. Scott sees me playing and comes over to the bandstand and stares at my hands for a long time. Finally he shrugs and says "I can't believe it. I actually used to be better than you, Shinn. Now all I can do is play what's in front of me, and you can improvise all over the place."

I tell you this story not to brag, but to demonstrate that it is possible to learn to improvise -- even by yourself, with no one to help you but a chord chart and some recordings.

But YOU don't have to learn by yourself. You can take advantage of all that I have learned about improvising over the past umpteen years since that happened. Instead of sweating by yourself, trying to figure out "how they do that", you can stand on my shoulders and learn piano improvisation correctly right from the start.

Here's how the program works:

I'm going to take you on a 7-month journey into piano improvisation. Each month for seven solid months you'll receive a new book from me, along with a wonderful audio CD on which I play and explain and demonstrate everything in the book, so you can hear how it sounds as well as see what it looks like!

Piano Improvising -- The Exciting
7-Month Home Study Course!

The 1st month we will lay the foundation for improvisation, including the 12-bar blues. You'll improvise right along with me as we go through the blues sequence many, many times, until you get the "feel" of it. You will work out of a 28 page book that goes hand-in-hand with my wonderful audio CD so you will HEAR every note, every chord, every progression at the same time you SEE them in the book. That makes learning fast and secure.

The 2nd month we will learn how to create a "motif" -- also known as a theme, for our improvisations, then develop that motif. We will also cover "razzles" on various beats of the measure. (This will also help your rhythm -- an added bonus!) And of course I will be playing and explaining each razzle as we go along, so you really can't miss, since you're seeing it with your eyes while you're hearing me play it with your ears!

During the 3rd month we will learn how to play popular ballads, using an arpeggio pattern in our left hand. Of course, I'll play every single example shown in the book, so you can hear exactly how it should sound. You'll play a half-dozen beautiful ballads, and learn to improvise on each one.

The 4th month we will learn chord substitutions, how to apply triplets to improvisation, how to use inversions -- all the stuff that makes for exciting, lush arrangements! The use of good chord substitutions makes your playing not only professional, but individual as well. You put your own "signature" on each song.

The 5th month we will work with 7th chord improvising and various accent patterns. (And don't forget -- you get a new book to work out of EACH month, including this month!). 7th chords are so important in all kinds of music, because they are "pregnant" -- they want to "deliver" you to the next chord. You'll not only master them, but you'll also improvise on them!

During the 6th month we will drill on the arpeggiated bass using 6th chords, the altered 9th chord, and what to do when 3 or more chords are in the same measure. When you create a "flowing river of sound" with your left hand arpeggio, your playing sounds full and lush and exciting.

The 7th month we will learn and work through the blues scale (which notes to flat to create a "bluesy" sound) and mixed up motifs, and we'll put it all together so you can see how everything relates. You'll learn the importance of the flat 5th, the flat 3rd, and the flat 7th, and how they work together to create that "jazzy" sound!

So there you have it.

Seven months from now YOU WILL be improvising -- and understanding what you're doing! You'll be making up your own melodies (made out of 2 or more motifs you learned back in month #2). You'll be playing exciting chord progressions based on the blues scale (which you learned in month #7). You'll be creating moods. Playing the blues. Playing ballads. And many other improvisational styles.

And remember -- once you learn the principles of improvisation, you can improvise in any kind of music -- gospel, praise, pop, rock, C&W, R&B -- any style!

Sign up now, and get started on your seven month journey to improvising!

Cordially,

Duane

P.S. I know the tuition for this course is embarrassingly low for a course of this magnitude. The same material at a conservatory or university (IF you could find such a course) would cost many times this amount -- (if you have attended college recently, you know about this!) But this is first-class material using seven excellent books and audio CD's that illustrate and demonstrate each improvisation technique. So even though it's extremely low-cost, it is the highest quality course you could possibly take!

P.S. again: The course is so clear and easy to understand that you really don't need me to hold your hand as you go through it. But if you want me to, I will. See the order form below.

Play the Piano by Ear...

without using printed music....just by learning some Chords and using your sense of up and down to play songs you've always wanted to play?
Find out how you can get started playing piano by ear for less than

Date: A Crisp Frosty Winter Morning in the beautiful Rogue River Valley of Oregon
From: Duane
Can YOU really learn to play piano...by ear?
Here's a quick quiz so you can find out:

Quick! Go look in a mirror! Do you have ears protruding from the side of your head? Good. Now hold your arms out about waist high and see if you have fingers on the end of your hands. Do you? Super. That's great news, because it means.... YOU CAN DO IT TOO ! -
Throw away your sheet music! - Well...you don't really have to throw it away, but instead of having to read all those notes, you can use it as a MAP -- to guide you like a map does -- the hills and the valleys of the song.
Can you hum a tune? - If you can hum a tune, you can take that tune and reproduce it on the keyboard, simply by going up (higher) when the song you're humming goes up, and down (lower) when the song you are humming moves lower. This is NOT brain surgery -- it's just common sense applied to the piano.
Have you always wanted to play? - Don't waste your time learning to play piano by ear if you don't love music, because otherwise you will soon lose interest. But if you are attracted to piano music, and have always wanted to play, th"

Dear Friend:

Would you daydream with me for a moment? It’s a daydream I used to dream often back when I was taking piano lessons:

You are sitting at the piano surrounded by your family and friends,

playing in a full, lush, style with chords galore and runs and fills flowing

up and down all over the keyboard. Can you see that in your mind’s eye?

I’ve got great news for you!

It doesn’t have to be a dream! You can learn to play like that just like I did. It’s not so much a matter of talent as it is of knowing what to do and how to do it. And that knowledge can be acquired. After all, it's just a matter of taking common chords you already know and twisting them around in unique ways -- breaking them up -- applying rhythm patterns to them -- combining 3 or 4 notes of the scales you already know into logical paths that take you to the next chord progression. It's not brain surgery and it's not rocket science -- anyone can do it if they take the time to learn certain techniques.

I’m going to show you over ONE HUNDRED ways to make your piano playing come to life. We'll take the chords and scales you already know and learn how to make all kinds of wonderful sounds with them -- in all different arranging styles. I am going to show you IN PRINT (in the big 8 1/2” by 11” book that comes with the course) and also in SOUND (in the TWO cassette tapes that come with the course) plus you will SEE and HEAR each technique as you watch the fantastic 2-hour video on arranging music on the piano! On it I will carefully demonstrate each technique so you can hear how it sounds as well as SEE what it looks like — you will watch my hands as I play each chord, each run, each style, each technique — in close-ups and in slow motion — so you can understand clearly how you can play it too.

Would you like to be able to create MOODS at the keyboard? To ignite the emotions of the listener? To EXCITE the listener with exhilarating, arousing, animated music? To create a sense of nostalgia, longing, or sadness with poignant, bittersweet chords & progressions?

Of play with such zest and gusto that the listener just can’t sit still? Or maybe play with that splendid, royal, radiant touch that makes people stiffen their backbones and look at reality boldly “Winston Churchill” music, as someone has called it.

You’ll find all of these feelings created through the use of techniques such as…

Here are some of the styles you will learn:

the “orchestral pad” on page 12

“suspensions” on page 53

“western twang” on page 46

“Alberti bass” on page 33

Is it hard?

Not if you know chords already. If you don't know chords -- don't take this course yet. Take a course on chords first, such as Chord Piano or All The Chords In The Whole Wide World.

But if you DO know chords, then all you need to do is learn how to apply those chords in certain ways, and I give you over 100 different ways to use them (see the list above).

Here's what one person wrote about the course:

"Words cannot express my joy at having found you. I'm 63 and have been studying piano on and off all my life - even studying with high-priced teachers. Every single one told me they could not teach me how to play from chords. One expressed it was a gift and that either you have it for you don't.
Well...3 days after receiving your "Naked Music" course, I was able to play from chords. Trying to understand why now at long last...it's because of your way of teaching. You make it soooo simple. First you explain what to do; then you demonstrate it, then you follow up the demonstration by explaining what you did and how the student can apply it to their written music. Beautiful!

Can't tell you how many other books I've bought that left me confused. So I love you, love you, love you. And will buy many other of your courses."

Donna P., Akron, Ohio (letter, Nov 12, 2003)

And another:

"I think I may have told you what my husband said when I first started ordering your courses a few years back...he said "Where has Duane been all your life?" I've taken off and on from different teachers and in various situations and he always saw how frustrating it was for me to be unable to get exactly the "right" teacher to explain the "neat stuff" to me. It always seemed a secret kept for only the privileged few. That's for letting me in on many of those fun things to do on the piano."

Renay Goodman, Colorado Jan. 21st letter

And about a zillion others (would you believe a few hundred?):

After you take the course please write to me and tell me how it has helped you. I personally read every single letter that comes in. Thanks.

Cordially,

Duane

Piano playing using chord symbols, fake books, lead sheets.: "Who Else Would Like to Play the Piano Without
Written Music -- Using Only 'Lead Sheets' or 'Fake Books' With Chord Symbols ?
(Fm7, G9, Dsus7, etc)

'How To Play More Notes Without Reading More Notes --Playing Piano From a Fake Book Using Just the Printed Tune and Chord Symbols!'

Most professional musicians play from a book called a 'Fake Book'. I bought my first fake book containing only about 200 songs when I was a teenager -- they were illegal then, but most musicians owned them -- for $50. That would be equal to $500. or more now. But fortunately, they have since become legal, so you can buy a real good one with 1000 songs now for $50. or less. A fake book contains just the melody (tune) and the chord symbols of a song, so you have to know chords to use one. But when you do, your playing comes alive -- you're only reading a few notes, but playing lots of notes.
I really want you to have this course because it shows you exactly, step by step, how to make your piano playing fuller and much more exciting and interesting by reading just the single melody line and adding all the exciting stuff using the chord symbols (Gm7, Eb9, C-9, F13, etc.). If you've ever heard a professional pianist play all over the keyboard, and then notice that the music he or she is playing from is nothing more than the melody line and chord symbols, then you have witnessed a fake book in action!
Once you learn this skill you'll be reading only a few notes per measure, but playing handfuls of notes -- arpeggios, chords, runs, riffs, fills, etc. All I can say about this course is 'Get it!' It comes with a booklet of lead sheets (just like a fake book, but with less songs) and a chord chart, in case you're rusty on your chords."

Learn to Play Piano like you've always wanted to!

One month from today you'll be able to play 24 different chords on the piano, and several simple songs. One YEAR from today you'll be able to play 1288 different chords and HUNDREDS of songs.
Date: Monday morning, 6:15 AM - Crisp & clear morning in the Rogue River Valley of Oregon

From: Duane

Dear Friend:

Remember the old ad...

"They laughed when I sat down at the piano...but when I started to play..." ?
I remember very well the first time I played piano for a group. They DID laugh. It was a disaster. I overheard the leader say "Let's get somebody with some rhythm in there to play".

Ouch!

That hurt. But I told myself right then and there that I would learn to play the piano so well that no one would ever laugh at me again.

Guess what?

Nobody laughs anymore. And they don't laugh at my students, either.

Why?

Because I discovered...

The BACKDOOR to piano playing.

What in the world is the "backdoor to piano playing?
Chords.
Chords are a way in to the world of piano playing without having to go through the front door: years and years of scales, drills, rote practicing, etc. Chords are really a shortcut to understanding and playing music without all the formal training.

Formal training is fine if you have the time and money. But most adults don't want to wait forever before they can play something enjoyable on the piano. I took lessons when I was a kid, but found it boring. Not only that, but all I could do was play the written music exactly as it was written. Without the sheet music in front of me, I didn't have a clue what to do. So I lost interest in piano playing until the incident described above. But shortly after that, I had the opportunity to play in a school combo -- but to do that, I had to learn chords, and learn them fast. So I sent for a $2. chord chart advertised in Popular Mechanics, and within hours after I got it I was playing the Dm7 chord and the C6 chord in my left hand while I played the tune with my right hand. Talk about excited! Within a few weeks I could play dozens of songs using chords. And I discovered that my sight-reading speed greatly improved at the same time, because now I understood what I was seeing on the printed page!

So I came in through the back door instead, and now I enjoy what I used to hate! Why? Because I understand what I'm doing because now I understand chords and chord progressions. I eventually went on to get my Masters Degree -- and it was easy because of all I had learned about music theory and harmony due to playing and understanding chords.

So in this course I give you the best of both worlds: You get the understanding that comes from knowing chords, but you also learn how to sight-read printed music. And you can do it much easier and faster because you understand what you are seeing -- chords and parts of chords and chords stretched out into a string of individual notes (called "arpeggios") and chord progressions -- one chord flowing into another.

Here's an example from a piece of classical music that looks complicated:

But as soon as you learn about broken chords, you will soon see that all this is is 3 chords broken up. When you learn the notes of those 3 chords, this music suddenly becomes as easy to read and understand as:

Like music? Always wanted to play the piano? Here's your chance!
Every single week for a YEAR Duane will come right into your home and appear on your TV screen and teach you to play the piano using both sight-reading and chord techniques. With music DVD video piano lessons, you can watch them over and over again. Can do you that in "studio piano lessons"? Of course not. And Duane explains and demonstrates everything so thoroughly -- plus you have the book he's teaching from right there in front of you -- that you would have to try hard not to learn!

You'll have a permanent library of all your piano lessons on DVD videos, plus all the books Duane sends along (at least 8 books). And all you pay figures to just $25. per week for everything -- Duane's expertise, the music DVD's, the books -- everything!

Duane starts right from square one -- how to sit at the keyboard, the finger positions, the chords you will use, how to read the melody while playing chords in your left hand -- everything. So if you are a beginner, or a rusty intermediate, or you took piano lessons as a kid but want to make sure you don't miss anything, this is the course for you. All Duane's other courses specialize in this or that, but this is THE BASIC COURSE -- the CRASH COURSE -- you'll get a complete, correct start at the piano. And if you watch these piano lesson videos week after week for a solid year, you will be astounded at how much you can learn in a year and how many different songs and styles and chords you can play!

"I just finished your "One Year Crash Course in Exciting Piano Playing". The instruction will last a lifetime. Thank you so much for being the greatest teacher alive." Margaret from Cape Cod (e-mail on file)

Learn piano from the man who wrote the book! - If you take lessons from someone who plays well but hasn't mastered teaching, you run the risk of missing lots of important stuff you need to know. You KNOW what you're getting when you study with the author of over 500 piano books and courses!
Learn at your own pace! - If you want to go slower than one lesson per week, we can adjust that to fit your schedule after the first month. If you want to go FASTER, that's fine too -- we can do that.
Learn music theory & harmony as you go! - You won't just learn HOW to play piano -- you'll learn WHY chords move they way they do, and WHY certain patterns repeat over and over. You'll learn musical form, transposition, modulation, improvisation, and a host of other musical truths!
"Can I say that I have learned more in 30 minutes about playing technique than I have learnt in 30 years. At the moment I am like a child on Christmas morning, finding it difficult to take everything in. You have shown me how much more there is to piano playing than merely transferring the notes on the staves to the keys of the piano. I now have a renewed interest in the piano, it has awakened my dormant fingers to try something new and exciting."
Will D. England (e-mail on file)

Low cost! Costs NOTHING in comparison to college or conservatory classes! - You can study with Duane on video for LESS than taking from an unknown teacher!
Doctors & professionals love it! - Doctors can't take a regular piano lesson at a studio at the same time every week, and neither can most working adults. With video lessons, you learn at YOUR convenience in YOUR home.
You get a whole library of DVD lessons! - You will refer to these lessons over and over again. The more you learn, the more you will understand, and the more you'll want to review something that was taught earlier!
"Thank you so much ... I have always wondered how people could tell what key they were in, but too ashamed to ask....or once when I did ask, I didn't understand what they meant because they didn't explain it clearly....WOW that is amazing...I took music for 8 years and never learned that..lol...Thanks again...and I play in church....."
Dianne (e-mail on file)

Duane comes to your home every week for 52 weeks -- stashed away in a DVD! - No transportation. No driving. No cancellations. No waiting. No rescheduling. It's at your convenience!

Become a master of chords & chord progressions! - You will learn over ONE THOUSAND chords by the end of the year! And you will understand chord families and why chords progress the way they do.

Adults only! - Duane teaches each DVD lesson with an adult in mind...kids need a teacher sitting along side them. So DON'T order this for your children UNLESS you plan to take the course to and stay a little ahead of them. But for those adults who will do this it is a double-blessing! You can learn yourself, then help your child learn as well. Perfect for home-school parents!

Here are just some of the things you'll be learning within the next 52 weeks:

All 12 major chords. All 12 minor chords. All 12 diminished chords. All 12 augmented chords. How to form 6th chords -- 7th chords -- maj7th chords -- m7th chords -- m6th chords -- 9th chords. Rhythm patterns in 3/4. Rhythm patterns in 4/4. How to "scout" a song. How to memorize music. Form & analysis. How to add runs and fills. How to get rhythm into your left hand. How arpeggios can help you read and play better. How to use an alternating bass to add variety to your left hand. How to find the key of a song. How to arrange a song with an intro and an ending. Adding octaves to the melody for a big sound. How to read chord symbols. Sight-reading with your eyes AND your brain. Polytonality -- playing two chords at once. How to stand a chord on it's head. How to add undernotes in your right hand. How to form and use dominant 7th chords. How to form and play 6/9 chords (ultra-modern). Undernotes and passing tones. Color tones. Transposing to another key. Modulation. How to use the written bass part as an "idea starter". How to read musical roadsigns. How to use intervals to help you sight-read faster and play better. How to add broken chords in both hands. How to pick out a tune by ear. Absolute and relative chord symbols. How to combine and alter chords umpteen ways. How to always remember the sharps and flats. Country-Western styles. Swing bass. How to get started playing boogie-woogie. How to make up your own songs. And a zillion other things!

"I just wanted to tell you that I got my books and videos today; and started watching them already, and am just thrilled to death. I think this course is going to be EXACTLY what I need right now; and I am just thanking God for giving me the idea." Joyce (e-mail on file

"I ordered your tapes and have been working with them for about 9 months. They are absolutely great! I have been playing since age 5 (I am now in my 50's). I have a degree in Music and have taught piano for 20 years. When I started playing I learned to play by ear. Then, all the music education drummed that out of my head. Your tapes have taken me back to the real joy of playing that I had as a child, and I especially love the process of creating that you take us through. Thanks so much for the joy of Music!!
Annette F Redlands, CA (e-mail)

"Just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for your wonderful 52 week piano course. Just started receiving weekly lessons. I must say that I never thought I would learn to play and now I am "grinning from ear to ear" as I learn from your wonderful teaching methods. My schedule is so chaotic that I could never plan on weekly lessons with a teacher - she / he would most certainly quit me. I took lessons 35 years ago as a child and hated it because the teacher was not good with kids (me included). This is a great Christmas present (even if it is from me... to me)"

Marlene (letter on file)

It’s just incredible. People rave over it. Here’s how it works:

After you receive your first lesson in the mail, you will SEE and HEAR for yourself why Duane's Crash Course is so powerful. You won't wonder anymore whether or not you can play the piano -- you will UNDERSTAND clearly that "If you plant corn, corn will come up. If you plant poison oak, poison oak will come up. So pick your crop: what you sow you will also reap. We live in a cause-effect world, so we can largely choose our own results."

You won't just be satisfied -- you'll be THRILLED!

Does Duane guarantee your success at piano playing? He can't, because he doesn't know your motivation, your time available, your family situation, your persistence -- etc, etc. But YOU can guarantee your own success at piano playing!

Piano Runs & Fills Galore!

Piano runs & fills galore...
How much more exciting would your piano playing be if you used...
"Runs & Fills Galore!"

How would you like to be able to use at least 46 different kinds of piano runs? And not just runs, but also fillers, tricks, special effects, riffs and embellishments of all kinds?

That's exactly what this fantastic CD course teaches -- runs that you only DREAMED of in the past -- runs you've heard on tapes or CD's, TV, and radio -- runs you didn't know how to do, but wanted to.

Picture yourself playing those LIGHTNING FAST runs up the keyboard and back down in time for the next chord, or playing CASCADING RUNS down the keyboard for a WATERFALL of wonderful sounds! Plus you'll learn mordents, inverted mordents, trills, turns, tremolos, grace notes, glissandos, fillers galore, cocktail-piano runs, plus gospel-style runs as well as "blues runs" based on the blues scale! You get each run on music paper and demonstrated and explained in detail on CD, so you can both SEE and HEAR exactly how to play each run!

Here's how you can add runs & fills to your piano playing!
Here are the 6 CD's that make up the course:

1. "Cocktail" Runs --The lightning fast runs used by the great "show" pianists. One hand runs, two hand runs, open-octave runs, tremolo-blasted runs, cascading waterfall runs and more. Made famous by such names as Eddy Duchin, Carman Caballero, Liberace, etc., but also used tastefully by many others, such as Roger Williams and many "pop" piano players. You get a "Capsule Summary Sheet" of Cocktail Runs in print, plus the CD. (If you don't want the entire course, you can order this separately at the bottom of this page.)

2. Embellishments Galore -- Mordents, inverted mordents, trills, turns, tremolos, grace notes, glissandos, etc. These are the "finesse" techniques that give your piano playing class and grace. Virtually NO amateur piano players use these, so you're putting yourself in a class usually reserved for professional pianists. (If you don't want the entire course, you can order this separately at the bottom of this page.)

3. Piano Tricks -- How do you make your piano sound oriental? How do you make it sound like a drum? How about a music box? A bell? Latin? Country? You'll learn it all on this tape. (If you don't want the entire course, you can order this separately at the bottom of this page.)

4. Evangelistic Runs -- These are the octave runs and fillers used by the great gospel pianists of past and present. Learn to use the "Rudy Atwood" octaves runs and other evangelistic piano players. (If you don't want the entire course, you can order this separately at the bottom of this page.)

5. Jazz & Blues Runs -- You will learn the "blues scale" and how to run it up and down the keyboard. You'll also learn blue note-crunches, slides, etc. These runs are very useful not only in jazz and R & B, but also in "black gospel" (I hate to use that term because it sounds racist, but people use it to describe a certain type of gospel music, so I reluctantly use the term...but only in that sense of the word), fusion, and many rock-pop songs. (If you don't want the entire course, you can order this separately at the bottom of this page.)

6. Fillers Galore -- You'll learn how to fill up an empty measure with a counter-melody; how to create an intro; an ending; how to make a "turnaround", plus fillers of all kinds. (If you don't want the entire course, you can order this separately at the bottom of this page.)

If you order these 6 CD courses as a set with "Capsule Summary Sheets" of each they will come in a big 3-ring binder. You'll love it!

but...

If that were not enough...

You also get our fantastic DVD on

"Piano Runs Galore!"

"How To Add Fills & Runs To Your Piano Playing!"

If you ever wanted to be able to put runs, echoes, and fillers in your piano playing to give it a full, professional sound, then watch this DVD -- because Duane shows you how to do just that note by note, step by step! Using the song "Greensleeves" as a model, you'll learn how to "fill up the empty spaces" with scale fragments, chords, broken chords, and so on. You'll hear Duane create 8th note runs (and explain how as he is doing it), 16th note runs, 32nd note runs, triplet fills, and many combinations thereof -- some so fast you can't even see which notes are being played until Duane demonstrates in slow motion up close. You'll see the fantastic "cascading waterfall runs", the fabulous "pro straddles", the exciting "tremelo-fired runs" and lots more! Learn how to "fill it up" and take your piano playing to the next level!

If you love those fantastic runs and fills you hear the pros use, this is the course that will teach you how to do it!

Amazing Keyboard Chord & Piano Chord Computer!
Here is a screen shot of our "Instant Keyboard Chords Finder" -- the answer to all your piano chord questions:

Click here to hear how it works.

Your piano chord questions are answered forever!
As you can see, the Keyboard Computer shows you ALL the chords BOTH on the keyboard and on the bass and treble clef music staff. So you SEE what each piano chord and/or keyboard chord looks like both on your sheet music and on your keyboard! This will not only solve all your chord problems, but it will also speed up your sight-reading! Why? Because you see BOTH the notation and what your left hand plays -- all in the same glance. So your brain connects the two, and your sight-reading automatically speeds up. Notice it also shows the scale of the piano chord! Those are the notes you use to improvise based on that chord! (Wish I had this while I was learning to improvise!) It makes no sound, but you SEE what the piano chord looks like for your hand to play and your eye to read!

You not only get ALL the:

Major Chords

Minor Chords

Augmented Chords

Diminished Chords

7th Chords

Minor 7th chords

6th chords

Minor 6th chords

Major 7th chords

9th chords

11th chords

13th chords

Suspended chords (sus)

...but you also get all the inversions of these chords!

That totals hundreds and hundreds of chords!

Plus you get all the scales with one click! (12 major scales, 12 harmonic minor scales, 12 melodic minor scales, and 12 pentatonic scales!)

It's a thousand-dollar college education in chords for 39 bucks!!!

It's a chord finder, chord locator, chord chart all wrapped up into one!

Take a look at the screen above so you can see how it works. Then click below to buy the actual "Keyboard Chord Finder" for $39. total -- no shipping -- you can order 24/7 -- even if it's in the middle of the night -- and keep it on your own computer desktop to answer all your chord questions forever!

Hi Duane,

Wow!! And Double Wow!! I just downloaded the Instant Keyboard Chord Finder and believe me, it is all you say it is and then some!

Thanks for coming up with something like this. From what I have seen, it does seem easy to use. I feel it will make the keyboard chords easier to learn by being able to see them. If time allows, I plan to take a few minutes each day to study a chord and the different variations before going on the computer for other things.

God Bless

Joy W. (e-mail Oct. 5, 2003 on file)

A word from Duane to guitar players about guitar chords -- guitar tablature...

For those of you who play guitar, it is very useful for you to know piano chords as well as guitar chords. Guitar chords are really the same as piano chords -- the guitar tabs (guitar tablature) looks different, but it's really just a picture of where your hands should go on the frets. Usually piano music doesn't have "piano tabs", but most piano music uses chord symbols such as Fm7, G6, Eb9, and so on. But the notes in a guitar chord are exactly the same as in a piano chord, so musicians who double on both guitar and piano have an advantage. This chord finder will help you find any kind of chord -- so called "jazz chords", "Christian guitar chords", "rock chords", "praise & worship chords" -- music chords of all types from augmented to diminished to 7ths to 13ths. And don't forget that a piano chord is exactly the same as a keyboard chord -- no difference at all. It functions like a chord dictionary -- a chord locator -- a chord finder -- and leads you to all the inversions of piano chords. I would encourage any guitar players to learn not only guitar tablature -- guitar chords, but also piano chords so that the connection between the two types becomes clear. It can only make you into a better musician! (Wouldn't it be nice to have a chord chart with both piano tabs and guitar tabs on the same chord finder! Maybe someday, but meanwhile, enjoy all these wonderful piano chords!) The only kind of chord the chart doesn't cover are "slash chords" "altered chords" and "poly-chords", because these are basically infinite. You'll love it!

Chord Progressions For Piano Playing & The Riffs & Runs That Flow Out Of Them!

Learn one chord progression and apply it to thousands of songs...

The amazing secret of learning a few...

Chord Progressions...

...that occur in thousands of songs, so by learning the progression ONCE, you will automatically be able to play it -- and the riffs and runs that flow out of them -- in THOUSANDS of other songs!

It's almost like cheating! Other people and other piano players will wonder how in the world you are able to play a song you've never played before so well -- with all the

Piano Fills and Runs
...you learned on another song!

Dear Piano-Playing Friend:

Here is a typical chord progression:
C Am7 Dm7 G7

It is commonly referred to as the "We want Cantor!" chord progression, because those are the first 4 chords of a famous song by that name.

But you can use that very same piano chord progression not only in "We want Cantor", but also in "Blue Moon", "Heart & Soul", "Unchained Melody", "Ebb Tide", "Polka Dots & Moonbeams", "It's The Talk Of The Town", and countless other tunes. You can also use the exact same progression in gospel songs such as "He's Everything To Me", "I Am Not Worthy", and many others.

So if you knew that progression -- I mean REALLY knew it -- you could play countless songs, and portions of countless others.

This same piano chord progression also makes an excellent introduction to most ANY song.

And this very same chord progression also makes a great "turnaround" in dead spots in a song, as well as for use between 1st and 2nd verses of a song.

All this from just ONE chord progression!

In this great course I will teach you a DOZEN piano chord progressions, and you will hear me play each chord and explain each progression in detail. You will hear me make RUNS & FILLS & RIFFS of various kinds out of each progression -- runs & riffs & fillers you can use, no matter whether you play gospel music, rhythm & blues, pop, rock, ragtime, jazz, praise & worship, or whatever. The principals are exactly the same no matter what style you play in.

By learning a few runs & riffs which flow out of each chord progression, you will be actually practicing the "fancy stuff" you can then include in thousands and thousands of songs!

You will get six CD's where I demonstrate and explain each chord progression in detail, and show you how to apply it to your kind of music. I'll show you how to make runs, fills, riffs, breaks -- all based on each progression, and by changing the rhythm slightly you can use the SAME NOTES to play any kind of music from gospel to popular to jazz!

Along with the 6 CD's, you'll also get a big book which has 96 pages and shows every note of every chord progression covered in the course. You'll also get a big two-color binder to hold your course at NO EXTRA CHARGE!

And if that we're enough, I have a special surprise for you: I have a "headless video" DVD for you! We call it a "headless video" because the video camera focuses on my hands close-up, so you can SEE each progression and SEE each run & riff and the exact fingering that is used. Even if you didn't have the 6 CD & book course, you could learn a ton from this DVD video alone just by watching -- but it's not available alone at ANY PRICE. You can ONLY get it WITH THE COURSE when you order -- but there's no extra charge for it, so in essence you're getting it FREE!

The cost?

If you could come to my studio in Oregon and I taught you the very same material in person (but don't buy an airline ticket -- I don't do that anymore), it would take several months of lessons and cost at least a thousand dollars -- but it would be well worth it, because you would have the "ammunition" in your mental storehouse that 95% of piano players don't have, and don't every know where to get.

Your cost -- just a tiny fraction of private lessons -- (yet learning by CD with a wonderfully illustrated book showing all the chord progressions is as private as you can get) -- and you can listen over and over again -- even in your car as you drive -- and share this priceless knowledge with other members of your family - is just $297. -- total cost -- nothing else to buy. And of course you can CHARGE IT to your Visa or MasterCard if you wish.

Warmly,

Duane

PS If you learned just ONE progression well and could use it to embellish hundreds of songs, It would be worth the price of the course. But you get a DOZEN chord progressions explained and demonstrated on the 6 CD's and the big book, to say nothing of the fabulous close-up "headless video DVD" where you can see clearly all the chords and the runs & riffs that flow out of them -- plus the exact fingering!

Chord Progression Course on 6 CD's & Big Book & Binder $297.

Special Bonus!

"Headless DVD Video" Which Summarizes the Entire Course!
